Dish pages

Dish pages describe food as it is commonly made and eaten in Sabah. We cite our sources at the bottom of each page and update the “Updated” date whenever we change a page. Prices are indicative ranges, not quotes.

Restaurant listings and verification

Every listing carries one of two statuses, shown on the card and the listing page:

• Verified: an editor has visited and confirmed the address, opening hours, price level and halal status, and the listing shows the date of that check.
• Researched, not yet visited: compiled from public sources (food articles, tourism boards, the business's own pages and review sites), which are listed on the page with the research date. We publish only what those sources state; where they disagree, for example on opening hours, we leave the detail out and say so. These listings have not been checked in person and are kept out of search engines until they are.

We recommend only verified listings: guides, food trips, stories and the home page name a place only after an editor has visited it. Researched listings appear in the restaurant directory, clearly marked, and are not recommendations.

Only verified listings are described to search engines as real businesses in structured data.

Halal labels

“Halal certified” means a valid certificate from JAKIM or a state religious authority is displayed. “Muslim-friendly” means Muslim-owned with no pork, but not certified. “Pork-free” means no pork on the menu, which is not the same as halal. Certificates expire, so check the date in person if it matters to you.

Independence

Recommendations are not for sale. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be labelled clearly at the top of the page.

Corrections

If something is wrong (a closed restaurant, changed hours, an incorrect description of a dish), tell us through the contact page and we will check it and update the page and its date.
